National Right to Life Praises House and Senate Pro-Life Leaders for Their Commitment to Protecting the Hyde Amendment
WASHINGTON – A letter signed by 181 members of the House of Representatives was sent by the co-chairs of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus to Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy praising them for their work and diligence in protecting the Hyde
Amendment.
The following statement can be attributed to Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life:
We join with Congressional Pro-Life Caucus Co-Chairs Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.), Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (R-Md.), Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R-Minn.) and Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.), Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.), and other pro-life members of Congress in praising the efforts of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) for their
diligence in protecting the Hyde Amendment. National Right to Life considers the Hyde Amendment to be the greatest domestic abortion-reduction measure ever enacted by Congress. Since it was first adopted in 1976, it has been widely recognized as saving over 2.4 million lives by preventing tax dollars from paying for abortions.
Founded in 1968, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of 50 state right-to-life affiliates and more than 3,000 local chapters, is the nation's oldest and largest grassroots pro-life
organization. Recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement, NRLC works through legislation and education to protect innocent human life from abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide and euthanasia.
