More than 63 Million Unborn Children Have Died Since Roe v. Wade
Pro-Life Americans Are Commended for Saving Millions More Through Their Tireless Work in Protecting Women and Their Unborn Babies
WASHINGTON – In response to the tragic January 22, 1973, U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade that legalized abortion on demand, millions of pro-life Americans immediately began working to protect innocent human lives. Over the
years, those efforts have saved millions of lives through legislation and education as well as direct assistance through the over 3,000 pregnancy help centers across the nation.
“Roe v. Wade has led to the horrifying destruction of over 63 million precious unborn children,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Yet, every day, faithful pro-lifers give of their time, energy, and finances to help women facing an unplanned pregnancy. Millions of lives have been saved from the tragedy of
abortion because pro-lifers give so freely and without hesitation.”
The National Right to Life Committee, the nation’s largest and oldest pro-life group, has successfully led the way over the last 49 years in seeing pro-life, protective legislation passed on both the state and federal levels. National Right to Life is the only national pro-life group with affiliates in all fifty states and over 3,000 local chapters nationwide.
On December 1, 2021, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral argument in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization which concerns Mississippi’s “Gestational Age Act” that bans abortions after 15-weeks gestation. The Court’s decision this year will address the question of whether a state has a compelling interest in protecting the right to life prior to viability.
“Regardless of the outcome in Dobbs, National Right to Life and our state affiliates will continue our work on the local, state, and federal levels to protect unborn babies and their mothers,” said Tobias. “National Right to Life will continue to lead the way through model state laws, federal legislation, and educational
efforts.”
Recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement, National Right to Life and its state affiliates have led the way in protecting all innocent human life by seeing legislation enacted on the state and federal level that challenges current jurisprudence and educates Americans about the extremism of current abortion law.
