In a move that reaffirmed
their zealotry on abortion, Democrats, led by Sen. Schumer (D-NY) have filed cloture to vote on the sweeping Women’s Health Protection Act (H.R. 3755). The vote will occur this coming Monday, February
28.
The
radical so-called “Women's Health Protection Act” would strip away all state and federal laws designed to protect unborn children and their mothers. Only abortionists and abortion providers like Planned Parenthood benefit from this legislation.
Tragically, the losers in this debate are the mothers and their unborn babies.
Among the
protective laws this shocking legislation would nullify:
Nearly
all Federal limits on taxpayer funding of abortion;
Conscience protection laws allowing medical professionals to opt-out of providing abortions;
Requirements to provide women seeking abortion with specific information on their unborn child;
Laws
providing reflection periods (waiting periods);
Laws
requiring parental consent or notification for minors seeking an abortion;
Laws
limiting the performance of abortions to licensed physicians;
Bans
on elective abortion after 20 weeks when an unborn child is capable of feeling pain;
Requirements to provide women with information on alternatives to abortion;
Bans
on the use of abortion as a method of sex selection, and abortions done based on a diagnosis of Down Syndrome.
The tenth
amendment, which gives each state the right to set its own policy, is in the U.S. Constitution. Yet, pro-abortion groups have stated that the so-called “Women’s Health Protection Act” would establish abortion-on-demand in all 50 states, regardless of the status of Roe v. Wade.
With this
bill, elective abortion would become the procedure that must always be facilitated – never delayed, never impeded to the slightest degree. If it were to become law, the so-called “Women’s Health Protection Act” would have a devastating impact on all current and future pro-life legislation.
