National Right to Life Slams Gavin Newsom for Appointing Pro-Abortion Activist to Open Senate Seat
WASHINGTON, D.C.— The following is a statement from Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life on the appointment of Laphonza Butler, president of the pro-abortion political action committee EMILY’s List, to the Senate seat left vacant by the death of
Senator Dianne Feinstein:
Gavin Newsom has shown how wholly connected Democrats are to abortion activists and how united they are on the abortion issue. His appointment of Laphonza Butler, president of the pro-abortion EMILY’s List, is just another example in a long line of actions that Newsom has taken to push
unlimited abortions.
EMILY’s List is a political action committee that spends millions of dollars every election cycle to elect pro-abortion Democrat women. To be endorsed by EMILY’s List, candidates must take a hardline stance opposing any and all protections for unborn children. In previous election
cycles, the group has pulled endorsements from pro-abortion candidates because the candidates opposed partial-birth abortions or taxpayer funding of abortion.
Gavin Newsom and the Democratic Party have an extreme pro-abortion agenda that is out of step with the majority of Americans.
Founded in 1968, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of affiliates in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia and more than 3,000 local chapters, is the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Recognized as the flagship of the
pro-life movement, National Right to Life works through legislation and education to protect innocent human life from abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide and euthanasia.
