COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The State Senate Medical Affairs Committee will take up the Heartbeat Bill (H 3020) on Tuesday, November 5, at 10 a.m. The meeting will be in room 105 of the Gressette Senate Office Building located directly behind the State House.
On October 22, a Medical Affairs subcommittee gave a favorable report to the Heartbeat Bill by a vote of 4-3 along party lines. The legislation requires that an abortionist inform a pregnant woman of the presence of a heartbeat and offer her the opportunity to hear the heartbeat. The bill also protects the life of an unborn child with a beating heart from death by abortion.
Those voting in favor of the H 3020 were subcommittee Chairman Shane Martin, R-Spartanburg, and Senators Tom Corbin, R-Greenville, Mike Gambrell, R-Anderson, and Richard Cash, R-Anderson. Those opposing the bill, all militant pro-aborts, were Senators Kevin Johnson, D-Clarendon, Margie Bright Matthews, D-Colleton, and Marlon Kimpson, D-Charleston.
Here is the link to the list of all members of the Medical Affairs Committee. If you are represented by one of these Senators, please contact him or her and encourage support for H 3020, the Heartbeat Bill.
If you do not know who represents you in the State Senate, click here and follow the instructions to identify your State Senator. (While we all have two federal Senators, Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott, we each have only one State Senator.)
It is crucial for pro-life supporters to be present at the Nov. 5 hearing to show our State Senators that "Unborn Lives Matter". In order to get a seat, we encourage you to be there an hour early and to wear the lapel sticker that says, "Unborn Lives Matter. Vote YES for H.3020." The stickers will be available there for you.
