Dear ,
As I'm sure you know by now, South Carolina's Heartbeat Bill survived bitter opposition by State Senate Democrats on the Medical Affairs Committee. The life-protecting legislation is ready for the full Senate debate and vote when the General Assembly resumes in
January 2020, just days after our annual Proudly Pro-Life Weekend events.
I am thrilled to bring you this good news. It happened because South Carolina's Republican Senators decided to give top priority to the Heartbeat Bill that passed the S.C. House last April by an overwhelming bi-partisan vote. By holding long and contentious hearings during
the summer, Senate pro-life leaders made sure the bill is ready for the full Senate immediately in January.
We have unique opportunities to protect our unborn brothers and sisters here in the Palmetto State. But there are fierce battles ahead. Make no mistake about it. The militant pro-abortion members of the Senate have vowed to do everything in their power to kill the
Heartbeat Bill and support the blood-thirsty abortion industry.
Planned Parenthood and its media and political minions have removed any pretense to "Care. No matter what." They have shown their true colors; Abortion. No matter what. That is why we need your help to make the 2020 Proudly Pro-Life Weekend the largest and most
successful ever. We have so many babies' lives at stake.
Times are perilous for the pro-life movement. We need your support now more than ever to "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves." Since 1974, South Carolina Citizens for Life has been speaking up for the unborn, the elderly and medically vulnerable members of
our human family. We will not – we cannot – stop now.
With your support, we continue to speak up because we know that progress has been made in protecting the lives of the “least of these” over the past 47 years.
Just take a look at the attached chart HERE. The number of abortions in South Carolina continues to decline and the number of
lives saved from abortion continue to rise as the number of life-protective bills have been passed.
Since January of 1973, when the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion on demand for all nine months of pregnancy and for any reason, we, the pro-life people of the United States, have been freely assembling to exercise our constitutional rights to seek redress for the wrong
our government allows. The year 2020 is no different.
The Proudly Pro-Life Weekend, the largest state-wide annual pro-life gathering, will be held on Friday and Saturday, January 10-11, 2020.
“Proudly Pro-Life 2020” will include the Proudly Pro-Life Dinner on Friday night, January 10, and the Stand Up for Life March and Rally on Saturday, January 11. I want to invite you to join us for these very special events and
to give you an opportunity to be a sponsor. I want to give you an opportunity to say, "We will speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves until Roe is overturned and legal
protection is restored to unborn babies!"
As the only single-issue pro-life organization in our state, South Carolina Citizens for Life has been working to save innocent lives since 1974. The dramatic results are encouraging.
With your help, since 1990 we have shepherded 15 protective bills through the SC General Assembly as illustrated on the attached chart.
With your help, almost 185,000 babies' lives have been saved in South Carolina alone.
With your help, the “Pain Capable” Act, signed by Governor Haley in June 2016, bans abortion on demand after 20 weeks of pregnancy when a child is known to experience excruciating pain during
abortion.
With your help, unborn babies are now considered to be individual crime victims if the baby is killed or injured during a criminal attack on the mother. In other words, the criminal is charged
with crimes against two people.
And with your help, the South Carolina General Assembly forced abortionists to clean up their filthy facilities and stop grinding up aborted children is a common sink disposal. You really need
to see the video at www.sclife.org/about.
By sponsoring and participating in the dinner and rally of “Proudly Pro-Life 2020,” you promote a culture of life in South Carolina. You make a difference in the lives of pregnant women, unborn children, the elderly, and people with
disabilities.
You say to the world that unborn babies' lives matter. The lives of our elders matter. The lives of persons with disabilities matter. Most of all, you honor God, Who made all of us in His image and
likeness.
Friday evening, January 10, doors will open at Seawell's in Columbia, S.C. for check in and silent auction at 5:30 p.m., followed at 6:45 p.m. by the dinner theatre one act presentation of Viable – all emceed by our pro-life State
Attorney General Alan Wilson.
On Saturday, January 11, the 2020 Stand Up for Life March lines up at 11 a.m. at the USC Russell House. The march steps off at 11:30 a.m. and the Rally begins at Noon, in Columbia, S.C. on the steps of our State Capitol. We will
speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves as we have one every January since 1974.
Both events will serve as a powerful, prayerful witness to the sanctity of human life.
