President Trump and Vice President Pence: Heroes to the Pro-Life Movement
Promises Made, Promises Kept
WASHINGTON — As the last day of the Republican National Convention opens, President Trump will take the stage this evening to accept his party’s nomination. Last night's speakers once again showcased how the Trump Administration has worked to protect and defend the most vulnerable in our society.
“President Trump and Vice President Pence have earned their status as heroes to the pro-life movement,” said Carol Tobias, president of the National Right to Life Committee. “We are grateful for their firm belief in the right to life and their courage, stamina, and commitment on behalf of our nation’s most vulnerable.”
On Wednesday night, many convention speakers recognized the importance of the right to life. Tera Myers whose son, Samuel, has Down syndrome, recalled how she was urged to have an abortion after a prenatal scan. “Our doctor encouraged me to terminate the pregnancy,” she said. “He said, ‘If you do not, you will be burdening your life, your family, and your community.’ I knew my baby was a human being, created by God, and that made him worthy of life.”
Tera Myers added, “I am thankful that President Trump values the life of the unborn.”
Sister Deidre Byrne, of the Little Workers of the Sacred Hearts, has served as a physician and surgeon, Army officer, and missionary. Sister Byrne spoke of the sanctity of human life. She said, “While we tend to think of the marginalized as living beyond our borders, the truth is the largest marginalized group in the world can be found here in the United States. They are the unborn.” Sister Byrne challenged the viewer, saying, “We must fight against a legislative agenda that supports and even
celebrates destroying life in the womb. Keep in mind, the laws we create define how we see our humanity. We must ask ourselves: What we are saying when we go into a womb and snuff out an innocent, powerless, voiceless life? As a physician, I can say without hesitation: Life begins at conception.”
Sister Byrne noted the contrast between President Trump and his Administration and what would happen if Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris were to win in November. She said, “Donald Trump is the most pro-life president this nation has ever had, defending life at all stages. His belief in the sanctity of life transcends politics. President Trump will stand up against Biden-Harris, who are the most anti-life presidential ticket ever, even supporting the horrors of late-term abortion and
infanticide.”
“Unlike the Democratic Party and their candidates, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the overwhelming majority of Americans reject abortion on demand and abortions paid for by taxpayers,” said Carol Tobias, president of the National Right to Life Committee. “Last night’s speakers showed once again that the Democratic Party’s platform of abortion on demand, at any time, anywhere and for any reason appalls everyday Americans.”
