A Christmas Prayer
O God,
Creator of the Universe,
You Who have no beginning
began Your earthly life
a single human cell.
When John the Baptist leaped
in his mother's womb,
acclaiming You in Yours,
You were perhaps no more than
12 days past conception
- no bigger than a bean!
Yet You were then and are
and ever will be
Lord of Lords and King of Kings.
How great and wondrous
are Your works
Almighty, Most Holy God!
You, the Infinite, came to dwell
with us within a single human cell.
Amen.
