COLUMBIA, S.C. – The following statement is from Holly Gatling, the executive director of South Carolina Citizens for Life and the secretary of the National Right to Life Committee, who spoke at the Hyde Saves Lives Press Conference today, July 9, 2021, at the SC State House.

Both South Carolina Citizens for Life and the National Right to Life Committee are single-issue, pro-life, non-partisan organizations.

Our message regarding the Hyde Amendment is this:
No Hyde, No Budget. 

What that means is that, without the protective Hyde Amendment, we oppose the federal budget, and we will score the votes on the budget.

The majority of Americans, regardless of party affiliation, oppose tax-payer funding for abortion. It is up to democrats to contact elected democrats with the message:
No Hyde, No Budget.
 

Call U.S. Representative Jim Clyburn, democrat of the 6th District, at (202) 225-3315, and make this message clear to him:
“Our position is: No Hyde, No Budget.”
